What is special about raw food?
Basically, raw food is food that has not been heated above 48 degrees centigrade (117 degrees Fahrenheit). This really means eating fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds in their natural state.
What makes raw food so good for us is that because it hasn't been cooked it still has all of its nutrients and enzymes intact, they are not destroyed or reduced through cooking.
What are the benefits of eating raw food?
Even by making just 50% of your diet raw (and making sure the cooked foods you eat are healthy!) you will see and feel noticeable changes, physically in as little as 24 hours. The longer or more you eat raw food the more significant the changes. As you put more raw, fresh, alive food into your body, the happier and healthier your body becomes. The benefits of eating raw can also extend to affecting your emotional and mental state, you should feel calmer and more in control of your thoughts and feelings.

Do I have to eat all raw food?
No, you do not have to eat exclusively all raw food. There has been a lot of talk in recent years about the benefits (or not!) of going "all raw". In reality, it is extremely difficult to make 100% of your diet raw. A lot of people are happy with around 75% - 80% of their diet being raw but you can start with just 50% of your plate containing raw food. As soon as you start adding more raw foods into your diet you will start feeling a difference as long as you are not overeating, eating healthy cooked foods and keeping the raw foods you are eating very pure and natural with a high water content, i.e. mostly fruit and vegetables. In the long term, a healthy diet which prevents, and even reverses disease, should include some cooked and some raw foods.
